Hello there!
It's been a while since I've written on this little blog of mine. We have been busy busy getting prepped for our move and then well, moving...we moved to "our" house this last weekend.
Even though it is a rental, I still think of it as ours. It's our home and we are so excited to be there.
We have been blessed with a beautiful home and I can't wait to get it all setup the way we (I) want it.
The house has pretty neutral paint colors except for the dining room and the guest bathroom. The dining room is a green color and the bathroom is a weird brown/orange? color.
I asked the landlords if I could paint those rooms and they gave me the green light!
I am painting them the same color to keep things simple and I am going with a grey color.
Benjamin Moore Galveston Grey to be exact.
I think it is a good mix between a cool grey and a warm neutral. Does that even make sense??
I have one wall primed in the dining room so far...I'm getting there.
One thing you should know about me is that I tend to want to decorate every single crevice in a house. I inherited this from my dear mother. I love to have stuff around and so my challenge is to have less stuff and to have simple statement pieces. I am realizing you don't have to have tons of things everywhere to make a house feel warm and cozy.
Okay, I have to be honest...I am only doing this because my husband asked me to. While it is my desire to be more simplistic, I just love having lots of pictures, vases, lamps, blankets, etc. all around me. But, I understand my husband's wishes and am up for the challenge!
I will still have my precious stuff, but I won't be hanging a picture/wall art on every empty wall in the house this time.
Wish me luck!
I actually am almost done decorating the family room. Didn't take near as long since I didn't clutter it up like my usual self would have.
I'll post about it soon!
Before we get into any details of the interior of the home, here is a picture I took with my iPhone of the backyard of the house:
The backyard looks onto a golf course (not sure it is being used as one currently though).
Isn't it beautiful??
I see many summer nights out here just looking at the view and taking God's creation in.
We even have built in misters for when it's real hot outside...we do live in Texas so built in misters are a great luxury that is almost necessary.
Anyways, stay tuned for home decorating, crafts, and of course lots of cooking...we have a Viking gas stove that I can't wait to test out tonight!
Stop by again soon :)
