Have you seen these polymer clay bracelets on the blogs, Pinterest, or Etsy? I have and I decided to give it a whirl.
It was pretty easy, but I tend to be a perfectionist and I had to realize it won't be perfect...guess that makes it homemade. <----I think I've used that line before on here...:)
I went to Michael's and bought Polymer Clay. It looks like this:
It is pretty cheap too...I got all of this for around $13 (I did use a 40% off of one item coupon though)
I got mostly neutral tones, but decided to get a fun color too.
All you need to do is use a knife and cut a chunk off of the color you want. It has lines in the clay to divide it up some so I just cut it at one of the lines (that will make more sense when you see the clay unwrapped- guess I could have taken a picture of that).
Divide your piece into three equal parts and roll each piece out like this:
Mash the pieces together at one end and begin braiding.
Measure out the length you want using a bangle bracelet that you have or just hold it up to your wrist.
Put the two ends together and bake at 245 for 25 minutes.
I found a lengthier tutorial here: Delighted Mommy
Here is the finished product:
I love it! This was the grey color even though it looks more tan in the picture.
I plan on making a bunch for some arm candy :)
Try it out! It was simple, cheap, and easy. Doesn't get much better than that!
I hope to make some other accessories with it, if I do I will be sure to share!
