So I decided to go to an oral surgeon and see what his thoughts were on my wisdom teeth. Dentists in the past have told me that I have enough room for them and they didn't need to be removed. I guess I have a pretty big mouth.
Well, my cousin recently got hers removed and had an AWFUL experience with it. Granted, hers were impacted, but still. She advised me to just go ahead and get them out so that they wouldn't become an issue later and to do it while I am still young-ish.
So the oral surgeon said I should get them out (he assured me he doesn't say that to everyone- yeah right!) I have a week until I begin my new job so I decided now was a good time.
Yesterday was the big day. I was actually pretty nervous going into it. I haven't ever had any type of surgery before so this was the first taste of it I've had.
Being hooked up to the heart monitor and the blood pressure monitor was not very fun. It checked my blood pressure every 5 minutes and boy did it rise when the doctor came in!
He then hooked up my i.v. (SCARY) and it couldn't have been 10 seconds and I was out. I don't remember anything after that.
I woke up and of course my entire face was numb and I was freezing! They were kind and had given me a blanket.
They told me I did great and it was only about a 30 minute procedure.
I met my husband at the door and off went to get me some delicious red velvet yogurt from our fave frozen yogurt joint.
After we got home, the pain really kicked in. I had taken the prescription they gave me and was just waiting for it to work.
No one prepared me for the amount of pain I was in. Maybe I am a baby, I dunno.
I don't think the meds helped much at all.
In fact, they made me sick and I threw up...twice! It could either have been the meds or I could have swallowed some blood, but I am blaming it on the medicine.
So when I went to bed I just took some Advil and that was it.
I slept pretty well all things considered and I feel SO much better today.
Not really in pain at all.
The worst part is missing 4 teeth that have been there since I was at least 12. It's a strange feeling.
I am hungry and I have had mashed potatoes twice, some greek yogurt, some noodle soup, and that's about it. My husband is going to bring me a milkshake home for dinner, but all I want is a hamburger. I can't even tell you how much I want one. A burger, fries, and a Dr. Pepper sounds delicious right now haha.
All I know is is that I am making some delicious treats for the Super Bowl and I am planning on eating every single one of them no matter what!
